Processing and Questioning

Questioning, the power of acquiring knowledge through probing of other people. Its an ability and skill that many people has forgotten about as they aged. At one point of time we lost the curiosity that we held as a kid, we accept the answer that were given to us. We adapt ourself to fit the system and process that the society set us to be. However, we stop asking why, we stop questioning on the reason and why is the process in the manner it is at the moment. We stop asking question on how to improve the process, what is wrong with the current procedure of doing things, we fear the people who set the rules, and most importantly, we are fearful of getting it wrong, we are fearful for failure and we are fearful of being look down as we show our lack of knowledge. However, we are so fearful of such mindset, we stop gaining knowledge. We are able to gain knowledge through the internet, with the internet containing knowledge that has never been witness in history, the database of the internet contain so much knowledge that one could access freely. The library known as the internet is so easily accessible that with a simple smartphone on hand, an individual could have access and know all the knowledge there is on the database known as the internet.

Which bring me to another point, if the data can be access that easily, what is the point of us memorizing knowledge? Exams are design in a way that, students have to write down and answer the model answer that the teacher set. It is the easiest way to “gauge” the student’s ability of studying, or memorizing in another word. The education system has brought many student as extremely competent workers and white collars, but the age and time is moving forward exponentially. Does such education system that the current generation are using, adapting to the ever-changing society? Why are we still insisting to use the old education method creating, students that are able to be replace gradually by machines?

When we study on a topic, with the old mindset, we would remember every words and meaning on the entire topic. We would try to figure out what leads to what, and that's considered as learnt. However, with such changing ages, we have to do more, we have to understand the process and ask the question why is the process is such a format? Understanding the process, would spark questions on what is the process, why is this process in this manner, what is able to improve and why should it be improve? Questioning on a current process and trying to find ways of making it better or differently would result in something called “innovation”. Innovation is key to human futures as natural resources as getting scarce, innovation of changing the current process to fit the changed future, the changed environment is key to a future where all people are able to live in harmony.

We need to start making a change. Making a change on our future and our future generation situation.
