Timecheck: 3 months in
It has been months since I started on the journey called venture building 18, looking back, there are many events that occurred, fruitful events, big events, small little gesture,s, and others. Some of these events are significant and some are just downright discouraging. Yet, something that stays in my mind and memory, is the freedom of choice. Dr Lin, always says, “it's either yes or no”, whether you want to do it or not, it is never about, not able to do it. I would like to take the chance to go through some of my progress and journey in this post.
Personally, I am involved in a few projects, namely, a digital signature platform named as TrueSign, a property fractionalizing platform. Pratu, and a music-based project. I will be focusing on TrueSign in this post, as it is the project that I was involved in from the start till the current state.
A brief summary of TrueSign
TrueSign is a digital signing platform that aims to solve two problems that are prevalent today where security on the internet and documents on the web, is at risk of being compromised.
Firstly, the authenticity of high-value documents as the document is prone to malicious alteration due to the fact that if the documents are of soft copy, they might be able to be changed as data as just 0 and 1.
Secondly, in a digital signature scenario, it is extremely hard to confirm the counterparties' identity. In a face-to-face scenario, people are able to see the person and confirm if the counterparty is 100 percent the right person that is supposed to be the signatory of the document. In the digital scenario, the common method is that the user will use a password and email combination. However, the password and email combination has proven to fail numerous times.
Users who are handling high-value documents are looking for a solution that is able to let them focus on their priority duties such as building a business, TrueSign is here to fix these errors and ensure the documents are handled with care and security allowing users to focus on their priorities.
Learned
In the past few months, it has been a big shock to me, the responsibilities that a business owner is carrying, the method of how the business should be built are all just part of the whole training. Information that is exclusive to the participants of the training, such as the trend and experience sharing by some of the most experienced entrepreneurs on the scene.
In terms of TrueSign, we struggled with identifying the problem with such a scenario. The scenario was shared with us by the mentor Edward, who has been in the finance sector for years and understands the whole business inside out. The problem is that, when you are unfamiliar and had never been in the scenario before, you will be unfamiliar with the severity of the problem. Furthermore, as a fresh university graduate, we are taunted by the idea of talking to people who handle such huge amounts of money. As we continue through the project and learn more, we found out that by using certain techniques and understanding more about this industry, the fear factor is reduced. Time and support cause the journey forward to be less dark.
Now
Currently, the project Is pushing toward launch, the are details still needed to be filled in, the plan of launching needs work. The operations process, the marketing process, the onboarding process, who should we get for the first customer and how are we convincing them. The preparation in the back end still needs much work to be done. Currently, we also have an inexperienced team of developers, there are issues to be sorted out in terms of development. However, we are confident that we are able to solve these problems and push out a minimum viable product.
Thoughts
NTUitive provides a great chance for the VB18(venture builders), we are able to get an insight and get knowledge through course, arming up with skills such as APPCOM, growth hacking, digital marketing, the art of persuasion, and inner engineering. These skills prepare us to be able to have an insight into what constitutes a higher chance of succeeding in business. Furthermore, the mentors that are paired with the different teams offer support and experience talk so that we are able to avoid error and learn from the journey. I am thankful for the chance given by NTUitive for myself to learn and train in a safe environment, but also providing this platform for Singapore’s youth and interested entrepreneurs to interact and learn the ecosystem.
