There are many different technologies currently in the market, with tools to help one’s productivity, tools to safeguard one’s priorities, and many other tools that serve different means. Some interesting tools that I have encounter and used are Miro, Hangout, Zoom, Words, and many more. However, these applications and tools are built upon other tools, such as the Internet. In recent times, DLT(distributed ledger technology) has been the hit item in the technology space.

Bitcoin and Ethereum are known product that was built on DLT and they are widely known to the public as the success story of a product that is based on DLT. However, both bitcoin and ethereum uses Blockchain as the base technology for their idea to work. Blockchain is a form of DLT. Contradictally, many people use and invest in bitcoin and Ethereum, yet, many of the investors know little about how bitcoin, ethereum works or even what is DLT and what is the differences between DLT and Blockchain. It is important to know the tools that we are using to serve a certain purpose.

Tools are to help to serve a specific purpose that the users set out and target to reach. Many people are fixated on the technology itself and forgotten that they are just tools to reach a certain purpose.

This week, I have been reading many articles and products using blockchain and DLT as their base, yet, many have tools that serve their purpose much more efficiently than using blockchain. Some state that they are using blockchain, yet, upon further examination, they are not. Technology has been such a phenomenon that people use it, just for the seek of it. Many different tools have been introduced to us, during the program, it is important for us to be assured and know that tools and technology do not help to solve the problem, it is how we use the technology and tools that will be the problem, solvable.
